An Introduction to FID - Read it!

One of the most important things to be aware of is that Footballidentity is an online football-world where Managers, Footballers and Journalists are all characters controlled by other users. A key to living the good life and having a growing career in Footballidentity is interaction and communication. With that in mind, you are all set to create a character of your choice.

  • How do I create a character?

At any point of time you can create your own character. You can have up to five different characters. You do this by selecting what type of character you want to create, Footballplayer, Manager or Journalist.

If you want to become a footballplayer, what is really important is to have a quick look at the "Unemployment List" by going to "World -> Employment -> Unemployment". This list will give you an indication on what playertypes are needed in your country at the moment, Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders or Forwards. The fewer unemployed footballers of a certain type, the bigger the chance to get a team quickly if picking that type.

If you want to become a manager, it is really important to acknowledge the responsibility that comes with that role. This game is not like other manager games where you are in charge of a bunch of AI controlled players. This game puts you in charge of real human controlled players. Communication skills, activity, presence, strategic thinking and fairness are important factors that play a huge part of your success. If you don't manage your job as a manager, your team-members can and will (most likely) fire you!

As a journalist, your contributions could be sharp analysis of the matches, interviews of the players, informative articles or whatnot. Build a reputation of a shotgun journalist or investigating reporter. It is your choice.

If you regret your choice of character and as long as your character is unemployed, you can retire him or her.
You can then create a new character of choice, but remember that you'll end up in the back of the "queue" of unemployed players waiting for teams to be filled.

  • What do I do with my Footballplayer?

If you are an active Footballer you'll get to participate in live matches, at given times, together with your teammates and against other user controlled teams. To improve your performance, you'll have to gain match experience and train your character right. You can perform training once a day and you'll do this by going to "Character -> Footballer Improvement ->Training". Your footballer character will accumulate statistics which hopefully will generate Footballidentity awards and in-game fame. If you "play your cards" right, you can build a name for yourself in the world of Footballidentity. And thus, become a sought after player.

  • How do I join a team?

Well, if you are in a country that yet have to get their own league created, the following country credentials needs to be fulfilled the before a new team is created: - 1 Goalkeeper, 4 Defenders, 5 Midfielders and 3 Forwards (from your country and that has never before had a contract). However, you don't need to wait for a new team to be created. Many established teams are constantly looking for active footballers to fill their squads. Thus, the best way of finding a team to play for is to write a short, but interesting ad in the Footballer Advertisement forum (http://forum.footballidentity.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=61). You will have a much bigger chance receiving a contract offer from a team by including the following information in your ad: what kind of footballer you are (include name of footballer and direct link), that you intend to become active, at what times you prefer to play matches (time zone) etc.

  • What do I do with my Manager?

As a Manager you'll get the chance to manage a team of real users. But first, you need to apply for a job with a team. When you have your team, it is you who pick the team-line ups, decide on match tactics, negotiate contracts with existing and new players, and coaches the team in matches and in-between matches. It is extremely important to be aware of this, because if you don't acknowledge this, your players will see to that you get fired. So, you are in fact, managing real people! Your activity and commitment is the key to having satisfied players in your team and thus the key to success. With great powers come great responsibility!

  • How do I become a Manager for a team?

If you are a Manager, you can go to the "Manager Jobs List" "World -> Employment -> Manager Jobs" and apply for a team that is currently looking for a manager to take charge. If you feel that you want to ease into the role of a manager, you can always start out by taking a position as an Assistant Manager. By doing so, you are able to learn from someone who is already familiar with the game while building up your manager rating (which is used to decide who gets a job in a team when the application deadline is reached). You can then apply for available manager positions when you feel you are up to the task.

  • What do I do with my Journalist?

As a Journalist, you'll be an important factor to contribute to and build the world of Footballidentity. By writing articles, match coverage, interviews and doing research, you will be able to build a reputation within this world. If you have the ambitions of a writer, you can get immediate feedback on your work. If you are interested in doing research and presenting analyses, Footballidentity will give you enough material to dig in to.

  • How do I play matches?

Matches are played twice per week (currently Wednesdays and Sundays). For an introduction on how to play matches, take a look at our demo on YouTube:
